The Story

The story of the Whakatane Hotel dates back prior to 1895. We may not have the stabling or paddock available for our guests but we have the accommodation and the history!

1 - There are three touring cars outside the hotel, the front one with a driver and two passengers, the middle one with three passengers and driver, and the last one with five passengers as well as driver. A few men are standing watching.

2 - Looks along a street with the Whakatane Hotel on the right and the premises of the New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Agency Company on the left. Apparently taken at an unidentified special occasion, with a large crowd gathered in the street between the Loan & Mercantile Company Agency building and the hills in the background.
